This: "I’m not sure women, moms, femmes, caregivers (probably lots of other folks too) realize how unfree we really are until something like this happens. To exist without anyone making demands on your time. To do whatever the fuck you want to do for nineteen days. I had my research to attend to, but everything else was decided by me and only me."
You know it's funny I could have travelled alone a lot when I was younger but I didn't much, and I had so much of that freedom but hated it, or misused it or didn't really have it because I was so unsure in my skin . .. now I'm sure I would love it, but not sure I would use it better .. ..
I read it during my study abroad year in Paris and loved it. That said, not sure what I loved more: the book itself or the fact that my French had gotten good enough to comprehend the maze-like, half-page long sentences.
Trilingual Elke! So lucky and so much hard work. Yes the long sentences are such a joy. They must be even better in French. I didn’t know you were a secret Proust lover. We shall def discuss!

So glad you got this time! Sounds like a blast.
Thank you Erin! It was wonderful just to wander like that!

Totally same. But I think I was just too scared, and yes uncomfortable in my own skin.
Love this and you and Berlin!
I am so happy you had the absolutely liberating experience of traveling alone for an extended period of time. Thank you for this offering. As always.
Thank you for reading as always 🩷🩷🩷🩷
Love this 💜 and all your Berlin stories ofc 😉
And let’s talk Proust one of these days!
I read it during my study abroad year in Paris and loved it. That said, not sure what I loved more: the book itself or the fact that my French had gotten good enough to comprehend the maze-like, half-page long sentences.
Would love to revisit.
Thanks for
