This is so good and I'm sorry I am hoarding so many of your books! But not actually THAT sorry.

It’s good that you have them! It keeps me from getting too obsessive about my collection lol.

Must read Twice Lost - God that looks fascinating. What great suggestions. I wasn't the best at collections as a kid. I seemed to keep skipping around!! Undisciplined in all things. Great post.

Thanks for reading. Twice Lost was really great! Skipping around may be more fun than collecting!

Possibly - I am AMAZED by your reading churnout /turnout. Loved thinking about how you just disappear into books (sometimes I do, but not as much lately - can't seem to disappear into Middlemarch right now!)

I had a Victorian novel course in graduate school and we had to read 400-600 page novels in a week. I couldn’t do it. But also the pressure. I think we had two weeks for Middlemarch or maybe it was Vanity Fair. I loved both of those books but it took a while to get into them and then it’s kinda a soap opera lol.

Middlemarch is finally starting to ramp up a bit. The Causabons are back from their honeymoon. Victorian novel a week is a taller order!

Ahhh I just bought Office Politics last month and I can’t wait to read it! Now I want to read all the others on your list, too.

I love this theory and want to keep talking about it — the books that don’t conform to expectations, the readers that don’t want the books that conform to expectations… I am this reader, I write these books. There are more of us out here than one might think…

Oh we should talk Office Politics once you finish. Yes, I think there are lots of us!

I don’t want the books that conform to expectations either. You definitely are writing those books! 🩷🩷🩷
